Membership in the Friends of the University Libraries Borrower Program is open to anyone interested in borrowing privileges at the University of Buffalo Libraries.
For a yearly fee of $50.00, Friends receive a Courtesy Borrower account allowing them to borrow materials from the University Libraries’ collections and on-site use of Library Research Stations.
To apply for a Friends of the Libraries Courtesy Borrower account:
To apply for a Friends of the Library membership, you must fill out the online application. It will take 3-5 business days to process applications.
Once your application is processed, you will receive an email instructing you on how to pay the membership fee. Payment can be made by credit card, debit card, or electronic check. We cannot accept payments in person or over the phone. .
Once payment has been made, you will be notified via email. Please bring a picture ID when picking up your new library card.
To renew your membership, choose “renew” as the account type on the online application form and include your assigned UBit name. It will take 3-5 business days to process your request.

Note: Borrowers are responsible for all charges, whether or not notices are received.
The My Account feature on the libraries website can be used to view all library fines.
Any questions concerning fines or replacement of lost items should be directed to the University Libraries Finances Office by calling 716-645-5950 between the hours of 9:00am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday or via email at ULFees@buffalo.edu.
