1. Correspondence is sent from Maurice Darantiere, owner of the printing house; Baron Bernard d’Avout, a manager and Darantiere’s successor; Maurice Hirchwald, the only English speaking employee at the printing house; and [Lapalus], presumably an employee.

2. All correspondence from Imprimerie Darantiere is presumably sent from the address that is printed on the letterhead of this first letter in the UB collection: 13 rue Paul-Cabet, Dijon, [France].

3. Correspondence XIV.1-17 is sent to Shakespeare and Company’s first location at 8 rue Dupuytren, Paris ; the remaining letters are sent to the bookshop’s second address at 12 rue de l’Odéon, Paris.
