The University at Buffalo Map Collection is located in the Basement level of Lockwood Library.
Open the same hours as Lockwood Library (see building hours).
Maps in the Map Collection (except for those in Map Reference & Atlas Collections) may be borrowed by UB students, faculty and staff and by those with other borrowing privileges.
Color scans of maps can be made in the library using the free, public scanner located near the circulation desk on the 2nd floor; please note that this scanner can make 8.5 x 14 inch scans.
Most of the maps in the collection have been cataloged and are included in the UB Libraries Catalog. The Map Collection is arranged using several methods. Maps are arranged by: (1) title (alphabetical); (2) by Library of Congress call number; or (3) by U.S. Government SuDocs number for government-issued maps. Using the catalog will assist you in determining which system to use for a particular map/atlas.
We encourage donations of maps, aerial photos, atlases, and other cartographic materials of any type, including travel maps in brochures, road maps (historic or new), custom-produced maps, and GIS files or data sets from research or classes.
